Bellver Castle is one of the unique amongst Spanish castles due to its spectacular architecture. Bellver means beautiful and this beautiful castle is situated on top of a hill. It is about 112 meter high hill and is surrounded by the Belver Wood and considered as the greenest area of the Capital Palma de Mallorca.
Bellver Castle had always been used for imprisonment and defense purposes rather than using it as the residence for royals.
The castle consists of four circular towers, out of which Torre de l’ Homenatge is attached with the main building by a bridge. This tower is tallest among the rest and is partitioned into four rooms. |

The castles central area is Arms Courtyard which is round in shape and has tank neck in the center for giving access to large water deposit. The courtyard itself is on two levels, the ground level with semicircular arches and a flat roof and the upper level with Gothic arches and rib-vaulting.
This historical site has become a museum which contains Palma’s museum tracing the development of the city through its artifacts with pottery from the periods of Spanish, Roman, Arab and Talaiotic.
